Is there any sport besides cricket where the condition of the ball dictates strategy/play?

I'm sure there must be something. Like tennis they change the balls after so many games. Ten pin Bowlers polish them before they bowl. I cant really think of any sport that is like cricket in this regard. Rugby, Soccer, Baseball and Basketball are all freely changed or swapped for brand new alternatives. I was looking for a sport where the age of the ball or continued use of it effects the way the game is played. Eg Spinners use the old ball in cricket and very rarely open. Sorry my question probably wasn't stated as clearly as I could of.

  1. Curling... but it isn't a ball.

  2. Every sport with a ball is dependent on it's condition. For example in baseball whenever a ball is thrown in the dirt, it is promptly replaced. The NFL has preconditioned footballs, and basketballs are preinflated to their specific PSI etc...........

  3. rugby is prime example

When the ball is wet, tactics change completely. The ball is duly kicked a lot more than passed due to slippery conditions. It is harder to catch die to a lack of grip so making the opposition catch the ball puts pressure on them/.

  4. its the beauty of cricket

  5. gilli danda!!

It's an old amateur indian game.. lol
